Have you ever wondered who made your shoes in a world of mass production and global sourcing? As consumers, we are no longer buying products. We’re investing in stories and heritage, as well as in quality. How can we be sure that our investments are being made in the right places?
Does the label “Made in England”, still carry the same weight of tradition, pride, and quality that it used to?
The Tradition of English Craftsmanship
In an industry where 95% of the footwear sold in Britain comes from abroad and many brands are reluctant to label their origin, Loake stands firm in its commitment to transparency.
The Kettering Legacy & the Indian Connection
Our main factory in Kettering, England, is the beating heart of our “Made in England promise”. Here, most of our Goodyear Welted Shoes are made, carrying the legacy of Northamptonshire’s shoemaking excellence. But our story does not end here. Our second factory in India wasn’t just a strategic decision; it was a continuation of our English craftsmanship. We didn’t import Indian footwear; we exported English shoes to India with every detail specified by Kettering.

Our website makes the country of origin a public fact. We have made it our mission that those who want to support British manufacturing do so in confidence.
In a global village, where local economies and craftsmanship is valued more than ever before, the “Made in England label” is a statement about social consciousness. It’s an investment that helps communities, preserves tradition, and ensures high quality.
A “Made in England’ shoe is more than a purchase. It’s an investment in a heritage of craftsmanship, pride, and quality.
Knowing where your shoes traveled before they arrived on your feet is a comfort. It’s the satisfaction that comes from choosing a product which respects its history and embraces its present.
